Nearly a decade of lifesaving work across South Sudan.

Since 2017, the African Relief and Development Foundation (ARDF) has operated across six administrative regions, including Upper Nile, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Central Equatoria, Western Bahr el Ghazal, Lakes State, and the Pibor Administrative Area.

Through integrated programs and services, ARDF has reached more than 2.8 million vulnerable and high-risk people while continuing to strengthen humanitarian and development impact across the country.

Operational Footprint

From our country office in Juba, Central Equatoria, ARDF runs projects in 21 locations across Upper Nile, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Western Bahr el Ghazal, Lakes and the Pibor Administrative Area, working close to communities, public institutions and partners where needs are highest and access is most difficult.

Severe and recurring flooding has devastated agricultural production, destroyed homes and infrastructure, and deepened food insecurity.

Economic Collapse

Hyperinflation, currency depreciation, and unemployment have reduced purchasing power, making food and basic goods unaffordable for many households.

Regional Spillover Effects

The crisis in Sudan has brought more returnees and refugees into South Sudan, placing additional pressure on limited services and resources.

Humanitarian Consequences

The crisis is visible in daily survival needs, public health risks, protection concerns, and the long road to recovery for displaced families.

Severe Hunger

South Sudan remains among the world's major hunger hotspots, with over half the population facing Crisis or worse levels of food insecurity.

Acute Malnutrition

More than 2 million children and 1.1 million pregnant and lactating women require urgent nutritional support.

Disease Outbreaks

Weak health systems, poor water and sanitation, and damaged infrastructure contribute to outbreaks of cholera, malaria, and other infectious diseases.

Protection and Access Risks

Conflict, insecurity, bureaucratic constraints, and high levels of GBV continue to affect women, children, and vulnerable communities.
